The battery rebate.

It's advertised everywhere, even before the election and the result. But, does it actually exist?

Well, no. I actually can't believe how this has been spun by our industry. Seriously, people are being sold something which doesn't even exist! I guess we won a Rotary award for telling people how it actually is rather than spinning things to generate more business though so we won't be doing this.

At the time of writing, there is no rebate, nor is there a time frame of when there will be. There was a proposed idea during the election campaign which has been twisted into companies advertising to buy a battery now and leave it off until July so you can get the rebate. However, this is nothing more than a business idea and advertising. Many companies have just sprung up, or changed their names, to capitalise on this idea. It's actually downright scary how this has been promoted, and, even worse, sold to the public. But it's everywhere and we can understand why everyone is so confused.

We must make this clear. We will not sell a rebate the doesn't exist, and the companies that are selling it have their backs covered, from what we have read in terms and conditions, that they can claw the money back from you in the event it doesn't go ahead. Our best advise right now is wait for batteries and the rebate until it actually exists. Then please to nuts and make the most of it.

But until it's actually real and there's even someone allocated to implementing it, let alone passing parliament, avoid anyone offering it to you. Don't get burned...
