Well, it's a bit of a scary week for us all in South East QLD. The first proper cyclone since the 1950s is about to slam into the coast, which has left everyone feeling rather shaken and anxious of what's to come.
As far as your solar goes, please make sure you have everything insured. A simple phone call to check is not a bad idea before the event, and we are also here to help wherever we can.
However, there is a little good news for everybody reading this. Many years ago this author was working in wholesale solar and was in the impact zone the day after Yasi passed to meet with our biggest client at the time. The trip had been booked long before the cyclone, and for whatever reason, we didn't reschedule and just got on with it.
Now Yasi was another animal entirely. We're not about to go through that, thankfully, but it's worth noting that I saw many roofs ripped off, with their solar still intact on the ground! This was long before the current standards of today, and we therefore expect your solar systems to survive with no problems. No, we don't have a crystal ball, and anything could happen. But, there have been a lot of cyclones pass over solar now, and generally they're a lot stronger than most roofs.
We will do everything we can to help our customers during this time, but please understand we will be sheltering ourselves and won't be able to be out there the same or the next day as we usually are.
So please be safe, everyone. We will get through this. Here's a little meme to hopefully lighten the mood for a few of us out there. Cyclone Alfie
