Always check the abn!

This really sucks that we even have to consider this kind of crap, but fake companies are at it again.
Last week a quote for $4999 for a 13kw was shown to us by a customer. Now, the customer was smart, and realised that the quote, which was half the price of the next cheapest, was suss. They were also very aware of British trade scams and had their spidey senses tingling. It was just all a little too good to be true.
Well. A simple Google search revealed that the name of the business was not registered at all, and neither was the abn. Seriously, what the actual! And yes, these companies do exist.
The customer also said that if that quote wasn't so cheap they wouldn't have double-checked what was happening, and they could've easily fallen victim.
As always, the scammer was very smooth, and had all the right answers. The customer said they could see why people wouldn't see them coming.
So in summary, always just do a quick search on the business you're looking at. No matter the industry. Unfortunately, the worst companies often have the best reviews and spend all their time having the bad ones taken down (there are many IT companies that specialise in this practice). A simple check can mean you get solar done properly and don't become another trade victim statistic.
