We have here a 40 year old panel, made by BP solar who, when I first entered the industry, made their own panels in Australia, and even SMA inverters had BP badges on them.
Notice anything different? Well, aside from the round monocryastaline cells, they only had two bus bars, and no bypass diodes. The little things that allow the cell rows to work independently. These old panels did stop working if they got any shade on any part pf them. Thank goodness we now have split cell technology available to the consumer market! How times have changed...
